Bourbon Trail Day 2 or Never Trust Google

On the second day our time tasting bourbon and BBQ was enlightening and humbling. We visited both the Wild Turkey and the Four Roses distillers. Wild Turkey was tasty but Four Roses was my favorite. I remember Four Roses as a bottom shelf brand and never to be a sipping whiskey. Well, Four Roses is under new ownership and has flipped the brand. Under Seagram’s ownership the best of the brand was shipped overseas.. Four Roses has become the favorite bourbon brand in Japan. The rot gut was bottled and sold to US consumers with the same brand label. Now under Japanese owners, Four Roses has been restored to it heyday of the 1940s when it was the most popular brand in America.

After a couple of samples, we searched out some BBQ. Using the magic googler machine, we were lead to “Hog Father’s BBQ.” Except, “Hog Father’s” wasn’t a BBQ joint. We were lead to a sub division somewhere in a suburb of Lexington. The address listed for the place was a ranch style house with an above ground pool. Apparently, “Hog Father’s” is a catering company operated from someone’s home. No BBQ for us on our way out of Lexington.
